Six Of The Best: S-Blade Putters 2010 Launch : 2010-03-22
Innovative UK putter brand Spherical Blade today unveiled a stunning range of six new S-Blade putter designs for 2010.

S-Blade BlackEye 2010
Including a classically-styled Limited Edition half-mallet putter, every model is manufactured from a durable stainless steel with a milled face, sleek gunmetal finish and distinctive eye-shaped logo positioned on the sweetspot.
All feature the company’s revolutionary ‘curved face’ technology – proven in laboratory testing to deliver a perfect roll by imparting increased top-spin on the ball – – which prevents the ‘bobbling’ and skidding effect commonly seen after the putter strikes the ball.
For golfers seeking supreme forgiveness on off-centre strikes, the new twin-pronged S-Blade ‘BlackEye 2010′ bear claw design delivers increased lateral balance and weight distribution, while the attractive gunmetal finish gives a wonderful soft feel off the face. The ‘BlackEye 2010′ weighs 400g with an offset steel shaft.
Players preferring a heavier putter engineered for maximum MOI and forgiveness will enjoy the 420g S-Blade ‘Crescent’ where the oversized head features a precision cutaway design. This gunmetal design is available with a heel mounted crook shaft.
Lovers of tradition will appreciate the heel and toe weighted S-Blade ‘Emperor’ with its recognisable blade-shaped head and offset shaft. Weighing 400g, the attractive gunmetal colouring reduces glare while to aid ball line-up the putter face features a new ‘eye’ logo on the sweetspot and directly underneath the yellow sightline.
Even with the advent of oversized putter heads, mallet shapes still offer a wonderful feel around the green and this is evident in this year’s S-Blade ‘Arrowhead’. This 360g putter is characterised by its cut-out mallet-style back and easy line-up aid, while the attractive gunmetal finish completes the flowing, aesthetic appeal.
The 2010 Spherical Blade collection is completed by the S-Blade ‘Classic’ – inspired by the oldest putter head style in the game.
Tradition and class is available in one simple, effective design but the added modern twist of S-Blade’s curved face technology increases forgiveness. The putter is available in a sleek gunmetal grey, or the stunning ‘Limited Edition Classic’ features a matt black head and black shaft (RRP £129).
Each model in the Spherical Blade 2010 range is available in lengths 30-36 inches and a choice of five different grips – three Golf Pride versions and two 2Thumb models.
All putters except the ‘Limited Edition Classic’ are priced RRP £119 and come with a leather/neoprene headcover.
S-Blade putters are designed with a distinct North-South curve on the face, so that the point of impact with the ball is always above its mid-point to get the ball rolling with topspin and negate skid and bobble that can be caused by typical flat-faced putters.
At the same time, a gentle East-West convex curve running along the entire length of the face widens the sweet spot and minimises the effect of any less than perfect swings or ‘twitches’ – increasing the chances of the ball staying on its intended target path.
This winning combination of patented technology helps the golfer achieve a much smoother roll on their putts and also makes S-Blade putters more forgiving than many other makes and models.
Laboratory testing in 2008 at the renowned Quintic Consultancy1 confirmed that S-Blade’s ‘curved face’ technology imparts more topspin on a golf ball than some of the most well-known and established putter brands on the market.
In a test of nine putters, the S-Blade Emperor was one of only two putters to get the ball rolling with topspin immediately on impact – and imparted the most initial spin. Seven other models initially suffered from ‘backspin’ at impact.

1 Using a putting robot arm, the Quintic study examined the effect that Spherical Blade’s curved face technology has on the roll and skid performance of a golf ball during the first part of a twenty-foot straight putt and compared it with the others.
