PowaLite Unveils Superlight Battery For Golf Trolleys : 2009-10-20
PowaLite – a new UK-based battery supplier for powered golf trolleys – unveiled a stunning lightweight lithium battery at the Golf Europe exhibition.
At less than a quarter of the weight and a third of the size of a traditional lead acid battery, the PowaLite battery was welcomed by some of the world’s leading powered trolley manufacturers seeking a way to make their products lighter for golfers.
And as the battery will fit any powered trolley battery tray, visitors to the PowaLite stand also appreciated the potential for sales to golfers looking to replace heavy lead acid batteries with a more lightweight, easier-to-charge alternative.

Since Golf Europe, discussions are well underway with several major trolley manufacturers who are interested in introducing the new PowaLite battery into their product ranges. A number of European distributors are also talking to the company.
PowaLite’s lithium phosphate battery, measuring just 16.5cm x 12.5cm x 8.7cm, also comes with its own charger with a built-in fan designed to reduce the ‘thermal stress’ experienced by many battery chargers as they get hot during the charging process.
Added Cris: “The charger is a key innovation and is designed to keep all components cool throughout the lifetime of the battery charger.
“Battery chargers degrade as components get warm and by introducing a fan to the charger we are significantly protecting its lifespan.”
Depending on the terrain, the PowaLite will power a golf trolley for well in excess of 18 holes and deliver over 1,000 rounds of golf during its life.
The PowaLite range, which is being expanded to include a 36-hole battery, is backed up by a no quibble 24-month warranty from the date of purchase covering both the battery and the dedicated charger.
